Maguchikh is preparing for a new start in the Diamond League
On Thursday, August 27, Zurich will host the final regular-season meet of the 2026 Diamond League. In the women’s high jump, Ukraine will be represented by three athletes: Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Iryna Herashchenko, and Yulia Levchenko. The women’s competition will be broadcast on the “Suspilne Sport” platforms.
The competition will take place at the Letzi-Grund Stadium in Zurich, Switzerland. The main session will begin at 7:30 p.m. Kyiv time. Three Ukrainian women will compete in the high jump. Yaroslava Mahuchikh has already secured her spot in the Diamond League final, which will take place in Brussels.
For Iryna Herashchenko and Yulia Levchenko, this meet holds special significance. They are still competing for a spot in the season finale, so Zurich will be their last chance to earn the necessary points. Among the Ukrainians’ rivals are Australians Nicola Olislagers and Eleanor Patterson, Serbian Angelina Topić, Polish athlete Maria Żodzik, Montenegrin Maria Vuković, and Jamaican Lamara Destin.
Maguchikh heads into the competition on the heels of a victory
At the previous Diamond League meet in Silesia, Poland, Mahuchikh won the women’s high jump. The Ukrainian cleared the bar at 2.00 meters. Iryna Herashchenko cleared 1.98 meters and won the silver medal.
After the competition, Mahuchikh said she wasn’t sure if 2.00 meters would be enough to win, since her rivals were posting high marks. “I thought 2.00 meters might not be enough, because the girls were jumping very well. Iryna Gerashchenko cleared 1.98 m on her first attempt—that’s just fantastic! I’m so happy for her,” said the athlete. In August, Mahuchikh also won the European High Jump Championship for the third time in a row. In Birmingham, she won with a jump of 1.97 meters.

When is the Diamond League Final?
The final lineup for the Diamond League Finals will be determined after the Zurich meet. The Diamond League Finals will take place on September 4–5 in Brussels.
For Mahuchikh, this will be another chance to end the season on a high note, while Gerashchenko and Levchenko will have their last opportunity in Zurich to compete for spots in the finals.
