On his 50th birthday, Andriy Shevchenko recorded a touching video message about his family
On September 29, Andriy Shevchenko, president of the Ukrainian Football Association, turned 50. The former soccer player decided to mark his milestone with a video message that he posted on Instagram.
In it, Andriy Shevchenko thanked everyone who had played an important role in his life and career—from his parents and family to his coaches, teammates, friends, fans, and even his opponents on the field.
At the beginning of his message, Andriy Shevchenko thanked his parents for raising him and for their love, and his family for their constant support.
“Today, on my birthday, I want to thank my parents—for teaching me life’s most important lessons and for your unconditional love. To my family—for your support, for always making me feel that you’re by my side, even when I’m far from home. You are my rock,” Andriy said.
As he spoke, he also shared some archival footage.
Shevchenko also addressed his coaches and teammates separately.
“Thank you to my coaches for your guidance, high standards, advice, and faith in me. Each of you has left a mark on my life. Thank you to my teammates; without you, I wouldn’t have achieved what I have. And thank you to my opponents—you pushed me to become stronger,” noted the UAF president.
Andriy Shevchenko also thanked his friends for their loyalty and sincerity, which, in his words, were not dependent on victories or defeats.
At the end of the video, the former captain of the Ukrainian national team thanked the fans for their support and addressed his country.
“Thank you to my friends for your loyalty and sincerity, which were never dependent on victories or defeats. And thank you to all the fans for your passion, energy, and support in good times and bad. Thank you, Ukraine, my homeland. You are my strength and my pride. Glory to Ukraine!” said Andriy Shevchenko.
Shevchenko dedicated his 50th birthday to expressing gratitude to the people who have been by his side throughout his life and soccer career.
