Aryna Sabalenka advances to the third round of the US Open
Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the third round of the US Open after defeating Russia’s Polina Iatcenko 6:1, 6:1. The second-round match took place on September 2 at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.
A quick victory
Sabalenka, the tournament’s top seed and reigning US Open champion, won the opening set in 24 minutes. This victory was her 16th consecutive win at the tournament in New York.

In the second set, the Belarusian broke serve in the first game and then held her own serve. Iatcenko, who is ranked 160th in the world and came through qualifying, broke her opponent’s serve in the fourth game of the second set. However, Sabalenka immediately responded with a break, took a 4:1 lead and sealed the match with a victory.
Next opponent
After the match, Sabalenka said she was pleased with her level of play, concentration and the opportunity to compete in the evening session in front of the fans. In the third round, she will play Kamilla Rakhimova, Channel NewsAsia reports.
