Artem Dovbyk was caught up in Roma's major player exodus

The management of the Rome-based football club AS Roma has decided to part ways with Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbyk during the summer transfer window. The forward is among a list of seven players whom the “Wolves” management no longer plans to retain as part of a major roster overhaul.

This was reported by Corriere dello Sport.

Along with Dovbyk, defenders Çelik and Tsimikas, midfielders El Shaarawy, Saragosa, and Venturino, as well as forward Ferguson, may leave the team. In addition, due to financial fair play requirements, the club is considering selling key players, including defender N'Dika or midfielder Koné, to stabilize the budget.

This season, the Ukrainian forward has scored three goals and provided two assists in 17 matches. In the summer of 2024, Roma acquired the player for €30.5 million, signing a contract through 2029; however, his low scoring output and a shift in the club’s strategy have forced management to explore options for his sale.

Radical changes in the Italian giant’s roster are taking place against the backdrop of global economic shifts, particularly Russia’s official entry into a systemic recession in April 2026. While European clubs are cutting costs to stay competitive, Dovbyk’s future remains uncertain, and clubs from other top leagues may show interest in him.

The fate of other Roma stars, such as Paulo Dybala and Lorenzo Pellegrini, also remains uncertain. The final list of players set to leave will be determined after the conclusion of the Serie A season, depending on the team’s final position in the standings and qualification for European competitions.

It was previously expected that Ukraine and Roma forward Artem Dovbyk would change clubs during the winter transfer window

English Premier League clubs are showing growing interest in Ukrainian goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin of Benfica.
