Broncos rout Warriors, Titans extend unbeaten run
In Australia, the Brisbane Broncos routed the Warriors 52:18 in the final round of the regular season of the women’s National Rugby League, NRLW. The reigning champions set a club record by scoring seven tries in the second half at Langlands Park Stadium in Brisbane, ABC News Australia reports.
Seven tries after the break
The Broncos opened the scoring through Kerri Johnson, but former Brisbane player Gayle Broughton scored for the Warriors. Broughton later assisted Tysha Ikenasio, who scored a try. Ten seconds before halftime, Delaney Paitai scored her first NRLW try to put the home side ahead, 12:8.
Early in the second half, Chelsea Lenarduzzi extended the Broncos’ lead. Paitai, Tamika Upton, Georgia Bartlett, Julia Robinson and Lauren Dam then scored tries. Warriors centre Stacey Waaka halted the opponents’ scoring run and extended her own streak of matches with tries to seven. Jasmine Guriwai also scored for the New Zealand team, while Robinson scored her second try late in the game.

Brisbane finished the regular championship in third place. The Warriors suffered their fifth consecutive defeat.
Ten matches unbeaten for the Titans
In another match of the final round, the Gold Coast Titans defeated the Newcastle Knights 32:20 in Newcastle. The result extended the Titans’ unbeaten run to 10 matches. The team had already secured second place in the standings behind the Sydney Roosters, who completed the regular season unbeaten.
The home side quickly took the lead after a try by Mercedes Taulalei-Siala, but the Titans responded with tries from Phoenix-Rain Hippie and Laikha Clarke. Before halftime, Gold Coast led 20:10 thanks to tries by Teagan Levi and Evania Isa’ako. In the second half, Levi completed a double, while Isa’ako also scored her second try. The NRLW finals begin next week.
