Darts player Bunting: Littler can become the greatest in history — Sky Sports News

Against the backdrop of the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Stephen Bunting said that 19-year-old Luke Littler is capable of finishing his career as the greatest player in darts history, although he may not surpass legendary Phil Taylor in the number of titles. Sky Sports News reported this, citing Bunting.

Littler’s six victories

Littler, who leads the world rankings, won the first six major tournaments of the 2026 season. After triumphing at the World Championship at Alexandra Palace in January, he won the World Masters, UK Open, Premier League, World Cup of Darts together with Luke Humphries, and World Matchplay.

Littler had hoped to add World Series of Darts, World Grand Prix, European Championship, Grand Slam of Darts and Players Championship Finals trophies to this list. However, he lost to Jonny Clayton in the World Series of Darts Finals quarter-finals. Ross Smith won the tournament.

Phil Taylor’s achievements

According to Bunting, Littler still has much to give to darts and has already changed the sport, including by attracting the attention of a younger audience. At the same time, Bunting believes that Littler will win many more world titles, but is unlikely to match Taylor’s record.

Phil Taylor, who retired in 2018, won 16 world championships. Bunting noted that the level of play is now higher than during Taylor’s era of dominance, but his achievements cannot be diminished.

Boos at the tournament

Bunting also commented on the booing of Littler during the tournament in Amsterdam. According to him, loud whistling can disrupt a player’s concentration, especially when throwing for a double, but only a minority of fans behave this way.
