Dynamo defeated Kolos in the Premier League

Dynamo Kyiv defeated Kolos Kovalevka 2–1 in the 28th round of the Ukrainian Premier League. Team veteran Andriy Yarmolenko scored a goal and moved one step closer to the league record.

Igor Kostyuk’s players took control of the ball from the opening minutes. Nevertheless, the capital club’s goal came as a bit of a surprise. Mykhavko headed the ball into the goalkeeper’s hands off a corner kick, but Pakholyuk let the ball roll over the line.

Things went from bad to worse for the “Farmers” before the end of the first quarter of the match. Burda fouled Buyalskyi in the penalty area—penalty. Yarmolenko stepped up to the spot and confidently scored his 122nd goal in the Premier League. He is now just three goals away from the all-time record.

A new burst of activity came at the end of the first half. Kyiv’s Guerrero shot just wide of the post on a rebound. And Kovalev’s Tsurikov failed to beat Neshcheret before halftime after a pass from Gagnidze.

"Kolos" stepped up their play at the start of the second half. The "farmers" opened the scoring in the 58th minute. Salabai, unmarked in the center of the penalty area, finished off a cross from Demchenko.

After that play, Dynamo fans endured a few anxious minutes. Riding a wave of positive energy, Ruslan Kostyshyn’s team launched a series of dangerous attacks. The “White-and-Blue” goalkeeper stopped shots by Gagnidze and Poniedielnik from promising positions, while Demchenko’s header missed the goal frame.

But eventually, the capital city’s powerhouse skillfully “stifled” the game. The match broke down into small segments, and the only real danger came during set pieces. In the end, Dynamo held on to the winning score and secured fourth place in the UPL standings (51 points). Meanwhile, Kolos remained in seventh place (46 points).
