Dynamo was in talks with a Croatian coach who had worked in Italy and Germany
Kyiv’s Dynamo attempted to reach an agreement with Croatian coach Nenad Bjelica regarding his appointment as the team’s head coach.
According to insider Viktor Vatska, negotiations between the club and the coach took place, but Bjelica ultimately turned down the Kyiv club’s offer.
Dynamo considered the Croatian as one of several options after unsuccessful attempts to reach an agreement with other foreign coaches. In particular, there were earlier reports of talks with Romanian coach Edward Iordanescu, who also declined to take the helm of the team.
Bjelica has experience coaching in several European leagues. He has coached Italy’s Spezia, Germany’s Union Berlin, Turkey’s Trabzonspor, and a number of other clubs.
Vatsko believes that “Dynamo” should be more proactive in searching for a head coach abroad if the club aims to return to competing for the top spots in the Ukrainian league and perform more successfully in European competitions.

Earlier, Ukrainian forward Roman Yaremchuk was not included in Greek club Olympiacos’ roster for the Champions League third qualifying round matches against Dutch club Nijmegen.
As a reminder, UEFA has appointed the refereeing crews for both of Kyiv’s Dynamo’s matches against Azerbaijan’s Qarabağ in the third qualifying round of the 2026/2027 Conference League. The first leg in Lublin on August 6 will be officiated by a Danish crew led by Morten Krog, while the second leg in Baku on August 13 will be officiated by English referees led by Stuart Attwell.
