Djokovic says he feels well ahead of China Open in Beijing — Asharq Al-Awsat
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic said he feels well ahead of his appearance at the China Open in Beijing, China. The tournament will be the 24-time Grand Slam champion's first since his first-round US Open defeat to Argentina's Mariano Navone at the end of the previous month, Asharq Al-Awsat reports.
During the US Open match, 39-year-old Djokovic had problems with his shoulder and back and also vomited during the game. In the first round of the tournament in Beijing this week, he is set to play Portugal's Nuno Borges.
Fitness ahead of the tournament
On Monday, Djokovic told reporters that he currently feels well. He noted that an official match differs significantly from practice sets and training sessions, but so far his physical condition does not cause concern.

The former world No. 1 said that at this stage of his career, he chooses tournaments where he enjoys playing, where he has had success in the past and where he feels the support of fans. Djokovic has not played in Beijing for 11 years: in previous years, he competed in China only in Shanghai. This year, the Beijing tournament was a priority for him.
