South Korea’s relay team admitted to Asian Games final — Korea Herald
South Korea’s men’s 4×100-metre relay team has been admitted to the Asian Games final in Nagoya, Japan, after its previous disqualification was overturned. The team finished fourth in its heat and seventh in time among 12 national teams. Eight teams advanced to the final, which was scheduled for Monday.
Coaches’ appeal upheld
During the qualifying heat, the team of Kim Sion, Joel Jin Nwamadi, Daniel Bivessa and Lee Jae-seong was disqualified over a suspected violation of baton-exchange rules between Kim and Nwamadi. The coaching staff immediately appealed the decision and submitted video footage.
As Korea Herald reports, the appeal was accepted and the appeals jury reinstated the South Korean team in the competition. Coach Ha Kyung-soo said that the organizers accepted the evidence submitted by the team.

According to him, the jury had previously believed that Kim and Nwamadi passed the baton outside the exchange zone. After the disqualification was overturned, the South Korean team will continue competing for a medal in the final.
Results in the 100 metres
Before the relay, Nwamadi and Bivessa finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the men’s 100-metre race. They achieved these results on Friday at the Asian Games.
