AC Milan has dismissed its coaching staff following a disastrous season
The management of Italy's AC Milan reacted swiftly to the team's fifth-place finish in Serie A by firing head coach Massimiliano Allegri. In addition to the coach, a trio of top officials lost their jobs: CEO Giorgio Furlan, sporting director Igli Tare, and technical director Gheorghe Moncada.
Allegri had returned to the club just last summer, signing a two-year contract, but was unable to see it through to the end due to unsatisfactory results. This was reported on the club’s official website.
In the 2025/26 season, the Rossoneri competed only domestically. After the first half of the season, the team was in second place, but it slowed down significantly in the second half of the championship. In the decisive round for a spot in the Champions League, Milan needed only to defeat Cagliari at home. Despite an early goal by Alexis Salemakers, the Milanese conceded twice, lost 1-2, and finished fifth with 70 points, securing a spot only in the Europa League. The team also failed to make an impact in other competitions, being eliminated from the Coppa Italia in the Round of 16 by Lazio (0-1) and losing to Napoli (0-2) in the Super Cup semifinals.
Massimiliano Allegri previously managed Milan from 2010 to 2014, winning the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup during that time. The coach achieved his greatest career successes with Turin’s Juventus, where he won five league titles, five Cups, and two Super Cups during his two stints with the club.
