It has been revealed which coach trained Usyk for his fight against Verhoeven
Coach Yegor Golub confirmed that he helped undisputed world boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk prepare for his bout against Dutch kickboxer Rico Verhoeven.
Golub announced this on social media.
According to him, over the past 11 weeks, he served as head coach at Usyk’s training camp.
“It was a tough fight, and there are things that need to be analyzed. But the main thing for a coach is victory. Rico is a strong and well-prepared fighter, so he shouldn’t be underestimated,” Golub noted.
He also explained the absence of coach Yuriy Tkachenko from the camp. According to Golub, Tkachenko had been working with his boxers in Kyiv for the past six months, and decisions regarding the team’s roster were made within the coaching staff.
Separately, Golub thanked Usyk for the opportunity to work with him, calling the Ukrainian “the best boxer in history.”
