Yaroslava Mahuchikh discussed whether she will return to Ukraine after the World Championships
World record holder in the high jump, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, will return to Ukraine after a short vacation in Barcelona. The Ukrainian track and field athlete plans to celebrate her 25th birthday, which falls on September 19, in Dnipro.
Next year, our compatriot will focus on the World Championships in Beijing, where she will compete as the first-ever winner of the Absolute World Championships.
“I ended the season on a high note. My coaches are happy and told me, ‘Remember when you jumped 1.99 m? That’s how you should jump next season—only even higher.’ Next up is my vacation. Right now I’m taking a short vacation in Spain, and I’ll return to my hometown of Dnipro for my birthday,” said Yaroslava.
It should be noted that in addition to the Absolute World Championships, the Ukrainian track and field athlete won the Ukrainian Indoor and Outdoor Championships this year, as well as the European Championships.
Maguchikh herself spoke about this in an interview with “Suspilne Sport,” summarizing the 2026 season.

On Thursday, August 27, the final regular-season stop of the 2026 “Diamond League” took place in Zurich. Three athletes will represent Ukraine in the women’s high jump: Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Iryna Herashchenko, and Yulia Levchenko. The women’s competition will be broadcast on “Suspilne Sport” platforms.
