Inter Miami appoints Kily González as new coach
American football club Inter Miami has appointed Argentine Cristian “Kily” González as its new head coach. Until González receives the necessary work permits in the United States, the team will continue to be managed by interim coach Guillermo Hoyos, Channel NewsAsia reports, citing Reuters.
Hoyos to manage the team temporarily
Hoyos, who previously oversaw Inter Miami’s professional development structure, took temporary charge of the team after Javier Mascherano resigned in April. The club separately thanked Hoyos for his dedication and willingness to take on coaching duties during this period.
Hoyos will not be on the bench for Saturday’s match against Montreal. MLS suspended him for one game due to repeated violations by the club of rules regarding delays to match kickoffs.

Inter Miami’s results
Last month, Inter Miami strengthened its squad with Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. Despite the presence of Lionel Messi and other experienced footballers, the team has lost four of its last five matches. The reigning MLS Cup holders are second in the Eastern Conference, 10 points behind Nashville.
González made 56 appearances for Argentina’s national team between 1995 and 2005. His playing career included spells at Inter, Valencia and Rosario Central. He began his coaching career in 2020 and has since managed several Argentine clubs.
