Israeli archers have refused to travel to the European Championships in Turkey
The Israeli national archery team has officially withdrawn from the European Championships, which are set to begin next week in Antalya. The decision was made jointly by the Ministry of Sports, the Israeli National Olympic Committee, and security services following lengthy negotiations with the Turkish side. Turkish law enforcement authorities were unable to provide adequate guarantees for the protection of the Israeli delegation, making the trip impossible under current conditions.

This cancellation is critical for the athletes, as the tournament is one of the key qualifying stages for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games. Despite the sporting importance of the competition, the athletes’ safety was deemed a priority. Currently, the Israeli federation is seeking alternative ways for its archers to earn the necessary ranking points and licenses at other international events.
It should be noted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not consider the war with Iran to be over.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the country may resume military operations against Iran in the near future.
