Pang admitted to intentionally losing five singles matches between May and September 2024 at ITF World Tennis Tour and ATP Challenger events. He also attempted to bribe other players in 17 instances, resulting in the manipulation of an additional six matches. The Chinese Tennis Association condemned his actions and promised further penalties under Chinese law.
This significant ban is expected to serve as a stern warning to other athletes and to strengthen efforts against corruption in tennis.
