Lewis warned the promising Itahu against fighting Usyk

Former undisputed heavyweight world champion Lennox Lewis shared his thoughts on a potential matchup between Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and Moses Itauma.

In an interview with the YouTube channel "iFL TV," the legend urged the young fighter not to rush into the elite level.

According to Lewis, despite the 21-year-old Briton’s significant successes, a fight against the current titleholder is premature at this stage.

The former champion is convinced that Itouma should focus on gradually developing his career and wait for the right moment to conquer the heavyweight summit.

“Moses is a wonderful young fighter with character; he hits well. But the time to move up hasn’t come yet. He has plenty of time; there’s no need to rush. If I were in his shoes, I’d wait until Usyk retires from the sport, and then declare: ‘I rule the heavyweight division.’ It’s still too early to face him,” emphasized Lennox Lewis.

Moses Ituma, who made his professional debut only in 2023, currently has a perfect record. He has 14 wins, 12 of which came by knockout, and no losses.

The British fighter’s last bout took place on March 28, 2026, in Manchester, where he scored a spectacular victory over American Jermaine Franklin.

Oleksandr Usyk last fought in May 2025, when he defeated Daniel Dubois again in a rematch, confirming his status as the division’s leader.

However, after that, the Ukrainian decided to relinquish his WBO title, thereby losing his status as undisputed champion.

“After careful consideration, Usyk decided to relinquish his championship title,” confirmed official representatives of the World Boxing Organization.
