LNZ and Shakhtar played to a high-scoring draw in the clash of the UPL leaders
Cherkasy LNZ and Donetsk's Shakhtar were unable to determine a winner in the headline match of the 23rd round of the Ukrainian Premier League, ending the game with a 2–2 draw.
This result allowed both teams to maintain parity in the standings, where they currently share first place with 51 points each.
The match began with high intensity from both sides, but it was the “Miners” who struck first.
Right at the start of the match, Alisson took a shot from the corner of the penalty area, and after a deflection off Ryabrov, the ball found the back of the Cherkasy team’s net.
Despite the early goal, the home team did not lose their composure and immediately seized the initiative, imposing their style of play on the opponent.
The “Seed Growers” responded quickly: after several dangerous attacks, Gorin managed to score against Riznyk.
In the 28th minute, an LNZ defender made a successful play during a corner kick, shooting toward the goal, after which the ball deflected off Bondar and flew into the net.
This goal was the logical culmination of the pressure the Cherkasy team had been putting on the Donetsk defense for the past ten minutes.
However, Arda Turan’s players quickly regained the lead, executing an attack in classic English style.
Goalkeeper Riznyk played a long pass from his own goal to Traoré, who forced a challenge from the defenders, and Eginaldo was the first to react to the situation, beating Palamarchuk with a first-time finish.
Shakhtar demonstrated high efficiency, converting virtually every other chance they had in the first half.
Just before halftime, LNZ equalized again, once more capitalizing on a set-piece opportunity.
After another corner kick, Assinor controlled the ball in the center of the penalty area and fired a precise shot through a crowd of players from both teams.
The first half treated spectators to a true goal-scoring extravaganza and an uncompromising battle across every inch of the soccer field.
The second half of the match proved less dynamic due to a prolonged air raid alert, which forced the teams to take cover.
After play resumed, the players were much more cautious, although Shakhtar had several chances to snatch the win thanks to shots by Konoplya, Traoré, and Eginaldo.
Palamarchuk performed reliably, repeatedly saving his team from certain goals in difficult situations.
