Carlton put up resistance in the first half, but Melbourne scored four consecutive goals in the third quarter to secure the victory. Olivia Purcell scored two goals and recorded 26 disposals, while Georgia Livingstone scored in her debut match in the final quarter.
Tyla Hanks recorded 32 disposals and one goal. Meanwhile, star forward Georgia Gall left the field in the third quarter with an ankle injury. For Carlton, which has a record of four wins and two losses, the defeat was its second in a row. Claudia Whitfort recorded 24 disposals.

Geelong's fifth consecutive victory
In another match, Geelong defeated Collingwood 90:49 to claim its fifth consecutive victory. Collingwood levelled the score early in the second half, but Geelong scored six goals in the third quarter and held a 31-point lead before the final quarter.
Ashleigh Moloney scored three goals, including a shot from midfield after several ball bounces. Chloe Scheer scored four goals. Nina Morrison recorded 30 disposals, Mikayla Bowen had 29, and Georgie Prespakis won 12 contested possessions. Collingwood remains winless after six rounds, although Olivia Lewis scored a goal in her AFLW debut after moving from the Melbourne Mavericks in Super Netball.
