Tobi Amusan finishes second at Athlos in London — Premium Times Nigeria
Nigerian hurdler Tobi Amusan took second place in the women’s 100-metre hurdles at the Athlos competition in London, United Kingdom. At StoneX Stadium in Barnet, she covered the distance in 12.51 seconds with a 1.2 m/s tailwind and earned $35,000.
American Alaysha Johnson won in 12.50 seconds, edging Amusan by one hundredth of a second. According to Premium Times Nigeria, this was Johnson’s 40th start of the season.
Race results
Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas finished third in 12.63 seconds. Jamaican athlete Danielle Williams recorded the same time and placed fourth. Another Jamaican, Megan Simmonds, was fifth in 12.66 seconds, while American Rayniah Jones finished sixth in 12.83 seconds.
Johnson replaced Masai Russell as Athlos champion in the hurdles sprint. Russell had been due to compete in London but withdrew from the event earlier that week. Before that, she won the Diamond League and the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, where she received the top prize of $150,000.

Amusan’s season summary
The London event concluded Amusan’s season. Earlier, she finished second behind Russell at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest: the Nigerian ran 12.34 seconds in the final and received $75,000, while Russell won in 12.22 seconds.
Amusan previously held the world record in the event, 12.12 seconds, set in the semi-finals of the 2022 World Championships in Eugene. According to the publication, Russell surpassed that mark in Zurich, running 12.09 seconds.
Athlos is a professional women-only athletics series founded by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. Each event offers a top prize of $65,000.
