The International Volleyball Federation has reinstated Russian teams to tournaments

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has decided to reinstate the eligibility of Russian teams and allow them to participate in international competitions once again.

Volleyball has thus become the first Olympic team sport to reinstate Russian teams in official tournaments. Details regarding the conditions of their participation in competitions are currently being finalized.

Russia’s national teams have been reinstated in the FIVB rankings. From now on, Russian volleyball players will once again be able to participate in international competitions. In particular, representatives of the aggressor country will theoretically be able to compete for spots in the 2027 Women’s and Men’s World Championships.

“In accordance with the FIVB Administrative Council’s previous decision to follow the recommendations of the IOC Executive Board, and following the Executive Board’s recent decision that its recommended conditions for participation regarding Russian athletes and teams no longer apply, Russian athletes and technical officials in all disciplines will be allowed to return to competitions under the auspices of the FIVB, as well as to World Championships and official tournaments,” the statement reads.

The federation insists on “the fundamental right of athletes to participate in sports regardless of their nationality.” At the same time, officials will discuss the use of the Russian flag, anthem, and other symbols separately. Meanwhile, the FIVB cynically promised to support the Ukrainian volleyball community.

This was reportedwith reference to the organization’s press service.

FIFArefused to rescind the yellow card issued to a star player on the French national team at the World Cup.

The Colombian national team became the last team to qualify for the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup, defeating Switzerland in a penalty shootout. Neither regulation nor extra time produced a winner, so the fate of the spot in the next round was decided by penalty kicks.

Brazil’s elimination from the 2026 World Cup following a 1–2 loss to Norway in the round of 16 was met with intense emotions in the locker room. According to Brazilian media reports, Neymar, with tears in his eyes, addressed his teammates and the coaching staff, thanking everyone for the journey they had shared.
