Nigerian footballer Taiwo Awoniyi completes studies at PFA Business School
In Nigeria, Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi announced that he had completed his studies at PFA Business School and obtained a postgraduate diploma in the Global Football Sport Directorship programme. The 29-year-old footballer announced this on 15 September on his Facebook page, calling the achievement an important moment away from the football pitch.
As Premium Times Nigeria reports, Awoniyi completed the programme with Merit. In his post, he thanked PFA Business School staff, lecturers and colleagues, as well as his family and friends, for their support during his studies. The footballer noted that he continues to play while also studying.

PFA Business School is an educational initiative of the Professional Footballers’ Association. It offers current and former players opportunities to prepare for work in football management and leadership.

The Global Football Sport Directorship programme provides specialised training in football operations, sporting strategy, management and the functions of a modern sporting director. It lasts two academic years on a part-time basis, with the qualification awarded by the University of Portsmouth in partnership with PFA Business School.
Match against Brighton
Awoniyi continues his professional career at Coventry, a Premier League newcomer. Two days before announcing his diploma, he was sent off in a home Premier League match against Brighton, which Coventry lost 0-5.
The forward received a red card in the 53rd minute after an aerial challenge with Brighton defender Maxim De Cuyper. It was Awoniyi’s first sending-off in the Premier League and the second of his career. The match was his 94th in the Premier League and his fourth league appearance for Coventry this season.
