German boxer Kabayel claims that Usyk is avoiding a fight with him
Interim WBC heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel expressed the view that Oleksandr Usyk will not agree to fight him. According to him, many people believe that the Ukrainian is allegedly avoiding this fight.
"When I heard about Usyk’s fight with Verhoeven, it was bad news for me. But I’m a man and I respect that decision. If Usyk says this is the best situation for him, then so be it. First and foremost, I’m waiting for a title fight. After their bout, we can talk. I’m ready; I’m next in line. If Usyk isn’t interested in fighting me, he’ll vacate the title, and I’ll fight anyone in the heavyweight division. Usyk will fight for the title, right? It’s a title fight. I think after their fight, we’ll talk to the WBC. They’ll support me; I’m the mandatory challenger."
Cabaye believes Usyk should vacate the belt if he doesn’t want to step into the ring with him.
"If Usyk isn’t interested, he’ll vacate the belt, and I’ll fight the WBC’s number one contender or another opponent. I don’t know if Usyk wants to fight me. Many say that Usyk is afraid to fight me. He has beaten many heavyweights. I think he will only take on big fights for the money. I respect that, but he won’t participate in real sporting competitions,” Kabayel said in an interview with the YouTube channel Seconds Out.
