The well-known Russian equestrian Shevtsova has changed her citizenship

The decorated athlete Alina Shevtsova has renounced her Russian citizenship and will now compete in international competitions under the Uzbek flag.

This is reported by Russian propaganda media.

Shevtsova represented Moscow in All-Russian competitions; in 2021, she repeatedly won medals at All-Russian and international competitions held in the capital region of the aggressor country.

At the end of April this year, at an international dressage tournament in Tashkent, the former Russian, who made her debut for the Uzbekistan national team, took first place three times and third place once.

As a reminder, Ukrainians will compete against Russians in a team sport for the first time since 2022.

The last meeting between Ukraine and Russia at this level took place in the semifinals of the European Futsal Championship a few weeks before the start of the full-scale war. At that time, the Ukrainian national team lost 2-3. Currently, the sports community is closely monitoring the decision by World Aquatics, as it could influence the future policies of other international federations regarding the aggressor’s participation in major sports.

The International Olympic Committee declined to comment on statements by Russian Sports Minister and Russian Olympic Committee President Mikhail Degtyarev, who publicly supports the war against Ukraine.

Additionally, a Russian cycling champion was disqualified for doping.
