Starodubtseva has been eliminated from the singles draw at Roland Garros
Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva has been eliminated from the singles competition at the French Open, bowing out in the third round.
In the match for a spot in the round of 16, the Ukrainian, who is ranked 55th in the WTA world rankings, lost to China’s Wang Xiyu with a score of 3-6, 5-7. The match lasted 1 hour and 50 minutes.
Starodubtseva started the first set confidently, taking a 3-0 lead, but was unable to hold on to her advantage. In the second set, the Ukrainian was also ahead—4-2—but her opponent managed to turn the tide and secure the victory.
For Starodubtseva, this was her second career appearance in the third round of a Grand Slam tournament. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian will continue her run at Roland Garros 2026 in doubles, where she is playing alongside Polish tennis player Magda Linette.
