A Paraguayan tennis player found himself at the center of a scandal following his defeat at Roland Garros

Paraguayan tennis player Daniel Vallejo made a statement following his match against French player Moïse Kouame at Roland Garros (3-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, 6-7 (8-10)) that drew criticism and was perceived as sexist.

This was reported by RMC Sport.

In Vallejo’s opinion, umpire Ana Carvalho did not react firmly enough to the crowd’s behavior, allowing fans, in his view, to influence the course of the match too much.

“Matches like this should be officiated by men; it’s very difficult for a woman. You need a man to referee because the crowd is very demanding, and it takes a lot of strength to stand up to them. The fans really did go too far, but I understand that they’re supporting their compatriot. It’s a very emotional crowd, so I was prepared: I knew it would be exactly like that. And, to be honest, it didn’t bother me—on the contrary, it inspired me,” Vallejo said.

Earlier, former undisputed super welterweight world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez commented on the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Rico Verhoeven, which took place in Giza (Egypt).

Dutch kickboxer Rico Verhoeven commented on his bout against Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, in which he suffered a defeat.

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk defeated Dutchman Rico Verhoeven by technical knockout in the 11th round and successfully defended his heavyweight championship belts.
