Padres beat Washington 9-2, Son Seong-mun did not play
The San Diego Padres defeated the Washington Nationals 9-2 at Petco Park and extended their winning streak to four games. Korean Padres infielder Son Seong-mun remained on the bench, Korea Herald reports.

Son has not had an at-bat since a brief appearance in the game against Cincinnati on September 2, when he had one plate appearance. Over eight days, he played in only two games. In 67 games this season, the baseball player has a .190 batting average: 23 hits in 121 official at-bats, one home run, 16 RBIs, 19 runs scored, 13 stolen bases and a .541 OPS.
Six RBIs by Jackson Merrill
Jackson Merrill recorded four hits, including his 23rd and 24th home runs of the season. He drove in six runs for the Padres and scored twice.

Washington took a 2-0 lead in the third inning after a solo home run by Keibert Ruiz and an RBI single by Dylan Crews. In the bottom of the inning, Ty France drove in one run, while Merrill put the Padres ahead with a two-RBI triple. In the fourth inning, the team extended its lead thanks to an error by Nationals starting pitcher Jackson Kent and a single by Fernando Tatis Jr. Merrill later added a two-run home run in the fifth inning, a solo home run in the seventh and an RBI single in the eighth.
Padres starting pitcher Walker Buehler allowed two runs in 2 1/3 innings. Five San Diego relievers then prevented Washington from scoring any more runs. Kent allowed five runs in three innings and took the loss.
