South Korea reaches three archery semifinals — Korea Herald
South Korea’s national team will compete in all three recurve team semifinals at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan. On Friday, the men’s, women’s and mixed teams will compete for places in the finals at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park in Okazaki, about 50 kilometers southeast of Nagoya, Korea Herald reports.
Archery semifinals
The women’s team of Lee Yun Ji, Oh Ye Jin and Kang Chae Young will face Indonesia. The men’s team, featuring Kim Je Deok, Kim Woo Jin and Lee Woo Seok, will compete against Chinese Taipei.
In the mixed team event, Kang Chae Young and Kim Je Deok will play a semifinal match against China. South Korea aims to win all three recurve team events.

Boxing, judo and esports
Also on Friday, two South Korean representatives will contest the finals of the men’s boxing tournament. In the up to 60-kilogram category, Jang Dong Hwan will box Abdumalik Khalokov of Uzbekistan, while Kim Min Seong will face India’s Ankush Panghal in the up to 80-kilogram category. The bouts will take place at Nishio Gymnasium in Nishio, about 40 kilometers south of Nagoya.
In judo, 2024 Olympic silver medalist Kim Min Jong will compete in the over 100-kilogram category, seeking his first Asian Games gold. Three years ago, he won a bronze medal. In the women’s over 78-kilogram category, Lee Hyeon Ji is a medal contender after defeating 2023 Asian Games champion and 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Kim Ha Yun in national team trials.
Esports player Faker, whose real name is Lee Sang Hyeok, will try to lead South Korea to its second consecutive gold medal in League of Legends.
