Imrich Bugar, the first world champion in discus throw, has died
Imrich Bugar, the first-ever world champion in discus throw, who represented the Czechoslovak national team, passed away at the age of 70.
In 1980, the athlete won a silver medal at the Olympic Games.

Buhar was the winner of the first-ever World Athletics Championships, held in 1983.
In 1980, the track and field athlete won a silver medal at the Olympics. A year earlier, he won the European Championships. He also won a bronze medal at the 1978 European Championships.
Bugar holds the current Czech national record in discus throw (71.26 meters).
A new stadium in Bucharest will be named in honor of Mircea Lucescu.
On April 5, Mircea Lucescu was placed in an induced coma following another episode of severe cardiac arrhythmia. He died on April 7.
