Ukrainian driver Oleksandr Bondarev made it onto the Formula 4 podium for the second time this season
Ukrainian driver Oleksandr Bondarev scored yet another victory in the Italian F4 Championship. The Prema Racing driver finished third in the second race of the season’s fourth round, which took place at the legendary Mugello circuit in Italy. The Ukrainian finished ahead of rivals from Great Britain and the Czech Republic, securing a podium finish for the second time this season.
Bondarev, who races for Prema Racing, overtook Britain’s Kenzo Craigie and the Czech Republic’s Josef Simek in the second race of the fourth round, moving up to third place and finishing in the points. French driver Andy Consani won the round, while Bader Al Sulaity of Qatar finished second.
For the 17-year-old Ukrainian, this is already his second podium finish of the current season: he previously finished second at the Misano round. Overall, Bondarev is competing in a full season with Prema Racing in the Italian Formula 4—one of the world’s most prestigious junior championships on the path to Formula 1.
Oleksandr Bondarev is a participant in the Williams Racing Driver Academy youth program and the first Ukrainian to receive support from a Formula 1 team’s academy. Before moving to Italian Formula 4, the Ukrainian won the UAE4 series championship in Middle East Formula 4, as well as European and world karting championships.
