Real Madrid lost its status as Europe's top team following the debacle against Bayern

Real Madrid has officially lost its top spot in the UEFA club rankings following two defeats to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals.

The German powerhouse managed to overtake the Spaniards thanks to a dominant performance, which radically shifted the balance of power at the top of the table.

Currently, Bayern Munich tops the list of Europe’s best clubs with 146,500 points. The “Royal Club,” which had held the top spot for a long time, has dropped to second place with 144,500 points.

Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin faced particular criticism following Madrid’s elimination, as his performance in the matches against Munich became a topic of debate.

The Spanish press was merciless in its assessment of the goalkeeper’s performance, noting that he made “mistake after mistake” throughout the series.

The top five clubs on the continent currently also include England’s Liverpool, Italy’s Inter, and France’s PSG.

These teams consistently deliver strong results in European competitions, allowing them to compete with the recognized leaders of the rankings.

The second half of the top ten is made up of Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, and Atlético Madrid.

The emergence of Bayer Leverkusen among the elite reflects the significant progress of German soccer over the past few seasons.
