Teo secured Singapore’s first Asian Games MMA medal — Channel NewsAsia
Singaporean mixed martial arts fighter Tiffany Teo secured the country’s first MMA medal at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan. She advanced to the semifinals of the women’s traditional MMA competition in the under-60 kg weight category.
Quarterfinal victory
Teo, who is making her Asian Games debut, defeated Iran’s Arezu Salimikhalehtaki 3:0 in the quarterfinals. According to Channel NewsAsia, both athletes who lose in the semifinals will receive bronze medals. Therefore, the Singaporean has already secured at least bronze.

Semifinal opponent
The 36-year-old Teo will face India’s Suchika Tariyal in the semifinals on Monday. In her quarterfinal bout, Tariyal defeated Mongolia’s Altanchimeg Baigalmaa 2:0, also securing India’s first Asian Games MMA medal.
The winner of the Teo-Tariyal bout will advance to the final scheduled for Tuesday. MMA was included in the Asian Games program for the first time. Freestyle BMX, padel, surfing, teqball and virtual taekwondo are also making their debut at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
