The Dynamo coach explained the substitution of Surkis Jr. in the match against Bukovyna
The head coach of Kyiv’s "Dynamo" manager Ihor Kostyuk commented on the substitution of goalkeeper Vyacheslav Surkis during the 4th-round UPL match against Chernivtsi's "Bukovyna," which ended in a 0–3 loss for Kyiv. In that game, the goalkeeper made two costly mistakes, including deflecting the ball into his own net in the 54th minute.
In the 60th minute, debutant Ilya Olkhovyi replaced Surkis on the field. The head coach explained that the substitution was a necessary concession to the player himself, who felt a psychological need to leave the field at such a difficult moment.
Despite the crushing defeat, the head coach of the capital city’s team did not announce his resignation, and the club’s management refrained from making any official statements. Ihor Kostyuk has been at the helm of “Dynamo” since last December.
