Coach Luis Enrique unconcerned by PSG’s poor start in France
Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique said he sees no cause for concern after the team’s 1-2 home defeat to Monaco in Paris, France. After three matches of the French league season, PSG have not won a single game and have two points.
As Channel NewsAsia reports, this is the Parisians’ worst start in the league for 19 years. PSG finished the 2007/08 season in 16th place, only three points above the relegation zone. The team then secured its first league victory only in the sixth round.
The coach’s assessment
In the match against Monaco, PSG were leading after the first half but conceded twice after the break. Luis Enrique noted that the opponent had two shots on target and both resulted in goals. According to the coach, it will be clear at the end of the season whether such statistics even out.

The Spanish specialist also gave a positive assessment of his team’s pressing, stressing that luck was not on PSG’s side this time. He believes that in ten matches against Monaco, the Parisians could win eight, draw one and lose one.
League deficit and the Champions League
After three rounds, PSG are seven points behind. Enrique called this additional motivation for the players, the team and the club, and said the Parisians would seek to reduce the gap as quickly as possible.
Before beginning their Champions League title defence, the club extended Luis Enrique’s contract until 2030. On Wednesday, PSG will host Slovan Bratislava in the first match of the tournament’s group stage.
