The schedule for the first round of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League has been released
On Tuesday, September 8, the new UEFA Champions League season kicks off, with 36 clubs competing under a revamped format in a single standings table. The first-round matches of the group stage will take place from September 8 to 10.
Ukraine’s sole representative, Shakhtar Donetsk, will play its opening match on September 10 in London at Stamford Bridge, where it will face the Dutch club PSV.
Ukrainian players abroad and a domestic team of referees will also participate in the first-round matches. In particular, Andriy Lunin’s Real Madrid will face Inter Milan, while Illia Zabarnyi’s Paris Saint-Germain will take on Slovan Bratislava. The match in Paris will be officiated by a Ukrainian refereeing crew led by head referee Mykola Balakin.
