Ghana women’s national team coach praises U-20 side after win over Korea

In Ghana, women’s national team head coach Kim Lars Bjorkgren praised the country’s under-20 team after its victory over Korea at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The Ghanaian footballers won 3-1, bouncing back after a defeat to Ecuador in their opening match of the tournament.

Victory over Korea

Ghana captain Sarah Nyarko was named Player of the Match after the game. Bjorkgren, who attended the match, noted the team’s dominance and its response to the unsuccessful start to the tournament.

“I am happy that they were able to come back today. They had a tough first match, but today they played very well and really dominated,” the coach said, as reported by MyJoyOnline.

Possible call-ups to the senior national team

According to Bjorkgren, the youth team includes several players who may later receive a call-up to Ghana’s senior women’s national team. He estimated the number of such potential candidates at three, four or possibly five players.

In their final group-stage match, Ghana will play France. One point will be enough for the team to advance to the playoffs.
