South and North Korean women’s teams to play at Asian Games in Japan — Korea Herald
South Korea’s women’s national football team will play against North Korea on Monday in a Group F match at the Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games in Japan. This will be the first meeting between the two Koreas’ teams at the current Games. According to The Korea Herald, both teams have already secured places in the quarterfinals with two wins each, and their head-to-head match will determine the group winner.
Swimmers’ relay
South Korean swimmers Hwang Sun-woo, Kim Woo-min, Lee Ho-joon and Kim Young-beom will compete in the men’s 4×200-metre freestyle relay at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. South Korea won this event at the Asian Games for the first time in Hangzhou in 2023 and will now try to defend its title.
Twenty-year-old Kim Young-beom has joined the relay team. The day before, he won a silver medal in the 100-metre freestyle, while Hwang Sun-woo finished third. Last year, Kim Young-beom surpassed Hwang’s South Korean record in the 100-metre freestyle at national competitions.

Other South Korean events
South Korea’s women’s volleyball team will face Japan in the semifinals. With a win, the team will reach the Asian Games final for the first time since 2014. At the previous Asian Games in China, South Korean volleyball players ended their medal bid after losing in the quarterfinals.
South Korea’s baseball team will begin its bid for a fifth consecutive Asian Games title with a Group B match against Chinese Taipei. In shooting, Park Ha-jun, Kwon Hyeop-jun and Shin Min-ki will take part in the individual and team 10-metre air rifle events. In wushu, An Hyeon-gi will compete in taijiquan and taijijian.
