Lydia Sham wins Hong Kong’s first Asian Games gold in Nagoya — ECNS
Hong Kong athlete Lydia Sham Hui-yu won Hong Kong’s first gold medal at the Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. On Monday, she won the women’s changquan competition with a score of 9.713 points.
Victory in changquan
As ECNS reports, Sham performed a precise and powerful routine that earned her the title. The athlete was one of two flag bearers for the Hong Kong delegation at these Games. Her victory became Hong Kong’s first top place on the podium at the current competition.

Third Asian Games
The current Asian Games are Sham’s third in her career. In July, she won a silver medal in women’s changquan at the 2026 International Wushu Federation Taolu World Cup.
Competing in one discipline
In Nagoya, Lydia Sham competed only in changquan and focused all her preparation on this event. ECNS notes that the medal also highlighted Hong Kong’s position in wushu, a sport that combines artistry and athletic skill.
