The Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation has launched a campaign to honor the memory of war victims

The Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation has announced the launch of the international digital campaign #CloseYourEyesAndEars, dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

The campaign was inspired by a gesture made by Ukrainian athletes during the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Varna. While the symbols of the aggressor state and its ally were displayed and their national anthems were played, the gymnasts closed their eyes and covered their ears.

The federation emphasized that this act became a symbol of protest against the war and a reminder of its consequences for Ukrainian sports.

The UFG noted that since the start of the full-scale invasion, hundreds of Ukrainian athletes and coaches have been killed, numerous sports facilities have been destroyed, and thousands of children have lost the opportunity to participate in sports and pursue their dreams.

As part of the campaign, the federation called on athletes, coaches, fans, and sports organizations from various countries to join the solidarity campaign.

To participate, people are asked to take a photo or video with their eyes closed or ears covered and post it on social media with the hashtags #CloseYourEyesAndEars and #RememberUkraine.

For videos, the organizers also recommend using the sound of an air raid siren as a reminder of the realities in which Ukrainian athletes live and train today.
