In Townsville, Australia, the Australian national football team begins a series of two friendly matches against five-time world champions Brazil. The second match of the series is scheduled to take place on Tuesday in Brisbane, ABC News Australia reports.

Seven potential debutants

Seven players who have not yet made their national team debuts were included in the Australian squad for the match in Townsville. They are 19-year-old Dylan Leonard, 21-year-old Marcus Younis, 22-year-old Casey Bos, 23-year-olds Kealey Adamson and Yaya Dukuly, 24-year-old Eli Adams, and 25-year-old goalkeeper Jacob Chapman.

Jacob Chapman’s story

A possible appearance for the national team would be special for Chapman: at the age of five, he had already walked onto the pitch as a mascot before an Asian Cup qualifying match against Kuwait at Sydney Football Stadium. He accompanied Travis Dodd, who scored his first goal for the national team in that match.

Chapman played in Australia for Sydney United and Marconi before later playing in Europe for Huddersfield Town, Ossett United, Gateshead, Salford, Rochdale and Crawley. The goalkeeper now represents Scotland’s St Mirren: he has played seven matches in the Scottish Premiership and kept two clean sheets.
