Wilder Could Be Usyk's Last Opponent in His Professional Career — BBC
Former undisputed world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk views legendary American Deontay Wilder as the top candidate to face him in his final professional bout.
Currently, the Ukrainian boxer’s team is in active negotiations with Zuffa Boxing, led by Dana White, to organize this historic bout in the United States.
Deontay Wilder’s manager, Shelly Finkel, has already confirmed that the American athlete is ready to accept such a challenge if an official offer is made in the near future.
This matchup is seen as the ideal way for both athletes to end their careers, as it has enormous potential in both the sporting and media spheres.
Serhiy Lapin, director of Oleksandr Usyk’s team, emphasized the seriousness of their intentions to organize this large-scale event.
According to him, Deontay Wilder is the top choice for the Ukrainian champion’s so-called “Last Dance.”
“Usyk has already clearly stated that he sees Deontay Wilder as his opponent for his ‘Last Dance.’ This matchup has enormous potential from a sporting, media, and international perspective,” said Sergey Lapin.
At this stage, negotiations are ongoing, but the parties have not yet finalized the agreements.
Zuffa Boxing is currently considered one of the most promising partners capable of ensuring the necessary level of organization for an international event of this scale.
“We are conducting direct negotiations with Zuffa Boxing at the highest level. At this stage, no agreements have been signed yet. Zuffa Boxing is considered one of the potential partners for hosting a large-scale international event,” added a representative of Usyk’s team.
