Cyclist Shin Ji-eun wins Asian Games bronze in Japan — Korea Herald

South Korean cyclist Shin Ji-eun won a bronze medal in the women’s individual road time trial at the Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games in the Japanese city of Shinshiro. The award became the first for South Korea’s national team at the current Games, Korea Herald reports.

Individual time trial results

Shin Ji-eun placed third, completing the Shinshiro Cycling Road Course in 36 minutes 56.14 seconds. The competition was held in Shinshiro, about 60 kilometers east of Nagoya, the main host city of the Asian Games.

Rinata Sultanova of Kazakhstan won the gold medal with a time of 36 minutes 23.72 seconds. China’s Zhang Hao took silver, finishing in 36 minutes 28.40 seconds.

First medal day

Medal events began on Sunday, the day after the Asian Games opening ceremony. South Korea’s national team plans to win around 45 gold medals at the tournament. The competition is scheduled to end on October 4.
