Video: Ukraine's national volleyball team advances to the Nations League playoffs for the first time in history
The Ukrainian men’s national volleyball team advanced to the Nations League playoffs for the first time in its history. This historic achievement was made possible after Bulgaria lost to France in the final match of the group stage.
Going into the final match of the group stage, the Ukrainian team still had a chance to advance to the quarterfinals, but its fate depended on the outcome of the Bulgaria–France match. A French victory guaranteed Ukraine a spot in the playoffs.
In the end, Bulgaria lost to France and was eliminated from the tournament, while the Ukrainian national team advanced to the Nations League quarterfinals for the first time in history.
In the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian volleyball team will face Poland. The matches in this stage of the tournament will take place on July 29–30.
After the Bulgaria–France match ended, the Ukrainian team emotionally celebrated their historic success by singing Stepan Giga’s song “Zoloto Karpat” (Gold of the Carpathians).
