Kim Ha-seong strikes out twice in first MLB playoff game — Korea Herald

In Atlanta, USA, South Korean Atlanta Braves infielder Kim Ha-seong struck out twice in the first game of the MLB National League wild-card series. It was his first Major League Baseball playoff game in four years. Atlanta won 5-3 after rallying in the eighth inning.

Two hitless at-bats

Kim started at shortstop and batted ninth. He recorded no hits in two at-bats: he struck out on a foul tip in the third inning and swinging in the fifth. He was replaced by a pinch hitter in the seventh inning.

Kim had a .116 batting average during the regular season. However, he made the Braves' roster for the wild-card series thanks to his ability to play every infield position, Korea Herald reports.

Comeback in the eighth inning

Atlanta trailed 2-3 before the bottom of the eighth inning. With two outs, the team had runners on first and second after a single and a hit by pitch. Austin Riley then hit a three-run home run to right-center field to put the Braves ahead.

Kim last played in the MLB playoffs in 2022, when he represented the San Diego Padres. Meanwhile, the Padres did not include another South Korean infielder, Song Seong-mun, on their roster for the first game of the wild-card series against the Chicago Cubs.
