Wimbledon 2026: Seven Ukrainian tennis players have learned who their first-round opponents will be
Seven Ukrainian women will compete in the main draw of the prestigious 2026 Wimbledon grass-court tournament, which will take place from June 29 to July 12 in a suburb of London. Following the draw, their first-round opponents were revealed.
The draw for the tournament took place on June 26.
Ukraine’s top-ranked player, Elina Svitolina (No. 8 seed), will begin the tournament with a match against her compatriot Daria Snigur (No. 78 in the WTA rankings).
Marta Kostyuk, seeded 12th, will face Argentina’s Nadia Podoroska (ranked 594th) in the opening round.
Other Ukrainian tennis players did not make the seeded list and will face strong opponents in the first round.
Oleksandra Oliynikova (49) will face American McCartney Kessler (62).
Yulia Starodubtseva (55) will play against Russian Anna Blinkova (107), whom she has previously defeated at Roland Garros.
Dayana Yastremska (66) will face Japan’s Aoi Ito (228) in the first round.
Angelina Kalinina (70) will begin her campaign with a match against Uzbekistan’s Kamilla Rakhimova (65).
As a reminder, Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk, ranked 13th in the world, continues her preparations for the third Grand Slam tournament of the season—Wimbledon 2026.

On Thursday, June 4, Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk, who defeated Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals, will play in the semifinals of the 2026 French Open. Her opponent will be Russian player Mira Andreeva. The match will determine one of the finalists of the prestigious Grand Slam tournament in Paris.
Svitolina also secured a confident victory over an American player and advanced to the round of 16 at Indian Wells.
Sobolenko lost in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros.
