Amazon plans to launch more than 5,000 satellites to provide global mobile connectivity and compete with Starlink
The American company Amazon intends to create its own global satellite mobile communications network, which will compete with Starlink. To this end, the company plans to launch more than 5,000 satellites into orbit.
It is reported that Amazon has already submitted an official application to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The company expects to obtain the necessary permits and fully deploy the satellite network by 2028.
According to the project, the new system will provide mobile voice calls, messaging, high-speed internet access, data transmission, and access to emergency services virtually anywhere in the world.
For Amazon, this will mark its first major move into the satellite mobile communications market, which is currently dominated by SpaceX’s Starlink service.
Elon Musk previously stated that the Russian military had obtained Starlink terminals through smuggling channels. According to him, the company managed to restrict the occupiers’ use of the service by implementing a special “whitelist.”
At the same time, Musk emphasized that SpaceX did not sell Starlink terminals to the Russian military, and access to the system was blocked after instances of illegal use were detected.

As a reminder, the American corporation Amazon is integrating the innovative mobile robot Proteus, which operates using artificial intelligence, into its European logistics network.
In the U.S., a class-action lawsuit has been filed against Amazon over the company’s refusal to reimburse consumers for additional costs incurred due to tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
