Disney raises prices for Disney+ and Hulu — TechCrunch
Disney is raising the cost of subscriptions to its Disney+ and Hulu streaming services. The ad-free bundle with access to both platforms will increase from $19.99 to $21.99 per month, while separate ad-free subscriptions to Disney+ and Hulu will rise from $18.99 to $21.49 per month.
As TechCrunch reports, the price of separate ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu plans will increase to $12.49 per month. The updated pricing is already listed on the Disney+ support page. Bloomberg was the first to report the changes.
Another price increase in a year
This increase comes about a year after Disney’s previous major revision of streaming service prices. When Disney+ launched in 2019, a basic monthly subscription cost $6.99. Since then, the company has gradually raised the price of the service as it seeks to make its streaming business a profitable part of its entertainment operations.

Disney is not the only company revising its rates. Peacock and Apple TV also raised prices in August, while Netflix increased subscription costs earlier this year.
Development of the streaming business
In its report for the third quarter of 2026, Disney said revenue from its entertainment streaming business, including Disney+ and Hulu, grew 11% to $5.5 billion. The company attributed this to subscriber growth and the impact of previous price increases.
According to the publication, Disney also considered launching a free Disney+ tier, which could put the service in more direct competition with platforms such as YouTube and Tubi. Earlier this month, Disney+ introduced the Playlists feature for discovering and continuously watching curated content collections. The company also hired Karandeep Anand as its first chief technology officer; he was previously the CEO of Character.AI.
