Shardul Shah Says Traditional Cybersecurity Can't Keep Pace With Threats — TechCrunch
Shardul Shah, a partner at the venture capital fund Index Ventures, said on the Equity podcast that periodic human-involved cybersecurity reviews can no longer keep pace with modern threats. TechCrunch reports.
Security in the AI era
The discussion focused on growing attention to artificial intelligence security and risks associated with autonomous AI agents. The publication notes that amid these concerns, shares of cybersecurity companies are rising, while investors are putting significant funds into startups developing a new generation of protective solutions for an AI-oriented environment.
Among such companies, TechCrunch mentions Instinct and Simile. According to the publication, startups in this area are raising nine-figure investment sums and receiving valuations that would have seemed unlikely several years ago.

Investment experience
Shah has been investing in cybersecurity and enterprise software for nearly two decades. In particular, he participated in six consecutive funding rounds of the cloud startup Wiz. Earlier this year, Google acquired Wiz for $32 billion; TechCrunch calls the deal one of Google's largest.
In a conversation with host Rebecca Bellan, Shah also explained why Index Ventures continues to invest in companies creating AI cybersecurity solutions at stages of development that previously required substantially more proof of business viability.
