Study shows AI does not reduce work hours but increases them

Analysts at ActivTrak examined 443 million work hours from 164,000 employees and concluded that the implementation of artificial intelligence does not decrease workload but redistributes it.

Following the integration of neural networks, time spent on communication more than doubled, and the use of business systems increased by 94%. Meanwhile, deep concentration time dropped by 9%.

As a result, AI users work on average 8 minutes longer than their colleagues. Currently, 80% of employees use artificial intelligence, with ChatGPT standing out as the most popular tool.

These findings indicate that AI changes the structure of work time rather than reducing the overall workload, posing challenges for management in balancing productivity with employee burnout.
