Fujifilm to release miniature Instax Pal 2 camera in the US

Fujifilm plans to release the miniature Instax Pal 2 digital camera in the United States later this month for $169.95. The new product features a 10-megapixel sensor, autofocus, and a face-detection function, The Verge reports, citing PetaPixel.

Screen and shooting settings

The Instax Pal 2 is the successor to the original Instax Pal, which was introduced three years ago together with an instant printer. The first model had a rounded palm-sized body and was equipped with neither a screen nor a viewfinder. The new camera's design resembles a downsized analog camera.

The device has an optical viewfinder and a 1.3-inch LCD screen on the top of the body. The screen is intended for framing shots, viewing images, and applying effects. The camera uses a 1/3.06-inch sensor and a 28 mm f/2.2 lens, while the maximum image resolution is 10 megapixels.

Photo transfer and battery life

Users will be able to adjust ISO, shutter speed, and exposure compensation, as well as activate face detection when needed. The body features a shutter button, a joystick, and a function lever similar to the film-advance mechanism on old cameras.

Photos can be transferred to a smartphone or instant printer via Bluetooth. The camera also has a retractable USB-C port for connecting to mobile devices. Through the Fujifilm mobile app, users can download image effects to the Instax Pal 2 or transfer photos to a phone for printing. Other features include a flash, tripod mount, self-timer, and a battery that, according to Fujifilm, lasts for up to three hours.
